1. After upgrading to Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, I can't scan to my OfficeJet 8500 909n. I get this message: 'The scan cannot be performed because another program or computer is using the networked HP imaging device. Try again later.' I have de/re installed HP Solution Center 5 times. I have rebooted routers. I have power-cycled my PC and printer many.
2. Since migrating to Windows 10 Pro 64bit product, the use of Windows Fax & Scan no longer works for me. When working with the Fax & Scan, my computer either immediately locks or after entering information in tools; system halts or freezes proceeded by an IPL initiation on its own; no matter what I try to do.

Older scanning devices (and printers, and in my case, Sony laptops!) have been left by the wayside when it came to Windows 10. Yes, it sucks to do this, but it's really the only way to convince Win10 to play with Win7 devices - at least this is what works for me.

• First off, unplug scanner from system altogether - USB and power at this point.
• Next, DELETE any drivers you even think are related to this device, and run any relevant 'uninstalls' you may have available to you.
  
• Now Reboot. Keep that scanner unplugged!
  
• Start the HP installer software process for this device, the Win 10 version, should it exist.
  
• (newest win10 x86_64 version from HP.)
  
• Wait until your scanner installer software whines about the scanner being 'not found, please plug in' or something similar.

Mac software subscription. You should then be on your way.
